About Dave Nelsen

Dave Nelsen is president of Dialog Consulting Group, a boutique consulting firm that specializes in helping senior executives develop strategies to enhance conversations with their most important internal and external customers using proven social networking, social media and Internet communication tools.

He also is a professional speaker who appears at a variety of corporate and association events. He writes a monthly column for TEQ Magazine and does a two-hour biweekly radio show with host Ron Morris on WMNY 1360.

After earning a bachelor’s degree in systems engineering from the University of Arizona in 1982 and master’s degree in operations research at Stanford University in 1983, Dave spent more than a decade at Bell Laboratories and AT&T, where he led marketing and product management for the InterSpan™ Data Services product line. In 1994, he joined high-speed networking startup FORE Systems and helped the company become a major player in the Internet.

In 1998, Dave co-founded and was CEO of CoManage until it was acquired seven years later. During this time, he was recognized as an Entrepreneur of the Year by Ernst & Young and CEO of the Year by a leading U.S. technology trade association.

In 2005, Dave founded social media pioneer TalkShoe, introducing the world to live interactive podcasting. During his past 15 years in startups, he raised more than $70 million in federal, angel investor and venture capital financing.

Dave has served on a variety of public and private boards including the National Foundation for Teaching Entrepreneurship and the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra. He is a founding member of Vistage Group 0676, where he’s been consistently voted “Most Valuable Contributor.” In addition, he’s an adventure racer and triathlete who makes award-winning red wine in his spare time.
